Misaki Sano is an artist and designer currently based in San Diego working on her Masters of Fine Arts degree at San Diego State University. Born and raised in Japan, she moved to the U.S. at the age of fifteen. Since then she has been spending her time between Japan and the U.S. Fascinated by the idea that a large portion of the human mind is unconscious, she provides tools for introspection by creating intimate objects and jewelry that draw focus to an interior space. She is curious to know how we would be transformed if we observed the parts of ourselves that we are unaware of. Her recent works were curated in an exhibition that explored therapeutic art and design at Edinburgh’s City Art Centre “The Re(a)d Bed.”
